ICON wins Appreciation Award for its GIZ HELD Project in Bangladesh

We are pleased to announce that our project, Higher Education and Leadership Development for Sustainable Textiles in Bangladesh (HELD),” received an Appreciation Award at the GIZ Consultation Forum in Bangladesh held in early November.

Supported by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, the HELD project aims to advance sustainable practices in the textile sector by strengthening textile training institutes in Bangladesh. As part of this initiative, ICON-INSTITUT GmbH successfully implemented the TVET component, which included the development and dissemination of new training modules and innovative pedagogical approaches. Key achievements include:

  • Four specialized modules (Sustainability in Textile Industry, Compliance in Textile Industry, Environmental Studies, Industrial Management) officially endorsed and now taught in 242 textile institutes.
  • Two generic modules (Industrial Management and Environmental Studies) officially endorsed and implemented in 1,099 diploma engineering institutes.
  • A comprehensive pedagogy manual available for use by thousands of teachers across 1,099 diploma engineering institutes and 242 textile institutes.
  • Development of a training program for further dissemination of technical knowledge and pedagogical skills, including training of master trainers and the establishment of a modern resource center. The center is equipped with various types of fabrics, garments, and accessories, serving as learning aids for interactive classes and student reference.

This award highlights the collaborative efforts and dedication of our team in successfully implementing the project. We see this recognition as a source of inspiration to continue driving sustainable development in Bangladesh’s textile sector.
