PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The GIZ initiative “Partnering for Readiness (PfR)” aims to empower national institutions in partner countries to access, plan, and implement climate finance effectively. As part of PfR, GIZ has developed a Climate Finance Readiness Training (CliFiT) toolbox with training modules focussing policy level and overarching topics of climate finance as well as on climate finance options for sector or local climate finance practitioners.

ICON supports the development and implementation of targeted capacity development measures for PfR by complementing the CliFiT toolbox with new modules focusing on (i) finance for climate change adaptation and (ii) private sector engagement in climate project development and implementation. Activities include needs assessment, development of tailored training and communication materials, and delivery of training sessions to the PfR Team.

In parallel, under the Sector Programme Good Financial Governance (SP GFG), ICON develops training modules on Green Public Financial Management (GPFM). The training focus on staff of the Ministries of Finance (MoF) of the SP GFG partner countries and aim at enhancing their capacities to design and implement GPFM and Domestic Revenue Mobilization (DRM) reforms.
