PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Canada is one of the closest and longest-standing partners of the European Union (EU), its second-largest trading partner. The EU-Canada Policy Dialogues Support Facility (EU-CAN PDSF) supports cooperation under the Strategic Partnership Agreement (SPA) and the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA). Since 2019, the EU-CAN PDSF has provided technical support to the EU Delegation to Canada, the European Commission, and the European External Action Service. It aids SPA and CETA implementation through expert and logistical assistance, aiming to enhance dialogue in peace and security, multilateralism, economic development, justice, freedom, and security. The EU-CAN PDSF develops studies, webinars, podcasts, and organizes exchange and networking events.
Phase II of EU-CAN PDSF aims to structure EU-Canada policy dialogues under SPA and CETA. Specific objectives include raising awareness of the PDSF's role, identifying new policy areas under SPA and CETA, promoting coordination among FPI-funded projects, and supporting the EU Delegation in Ottawa in monitoring activities.
Stakeholders will better understand the EU's support for EU-Canada relations through presentations and discussions. The EU Delegation and PDSF will gain insights into action areas, challenges, and opportunities. Additionally, they will have access to an updated repository of EU projects in Canada prepared by the PDSF team.
