Algeria, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, Morocco, Palestine, TunisiaPROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Networks of Mediterranean Youth (NET-MED Youth) project aims to create an enabling environment for young people in the Southern countries of the European Neighbourhood Policy. Funded by the European Union and implemented by UNESCO, the project supports young women and men in developing their competencies, exercising their rights, and actively participating in national youth strategies. Initially launched in ten countries, the project has since been scaled down to eight due to ongoing conflict in Syria and Egypt’s withdrawal.
ICON is conducting an evaluation of the project to assess its overall performance and provide evidence-based recommendations for strengthening UNESCO’s future youth engagement initiatives. The evaluation focuses on key dimensions such as human and financial resources, youth involvement, project management and coordination, partnerships and cooperation, fundraising, as well as project results and sustainability.
ICON is using a combination of qualitative and quantitative methodologies. The key activities include:
- Conducting desk research to analyze project documentation and reports.
- Organizing and conducting interviews with key stakeholders, including project participants and partners.
- Carrying out field visits to selected project locations to assess on-the-ground impact.
- Implementing online surveys to gather insights from a wider range of stakeholders.
- Compiling findings into a detailed evaluation report with recommendations for future UNESCO youth programs.
