PROJECT DESCRIPTION

As part of the European Statistical Training Programme – Phase IV (ESTP IV), extensive efforts were made to develop, organize, and deliver training courses that equip statisticians within the European Statistical System (ESS) with cutting-edge methodologies and tools.

The project aimed to strengthen capacities in modern data technologies relevant for the production of official statistics. It covered the use of Big Data, introducing key concepts, tools, and infrastructure for data processing and analysis, with a particular focus on IT professionals supporting statisticians. Participants gained insights into blockchain technology and its potential for secure and transparent data sharing in official statistics. The project also addressed Enterprise Architecture to improve the integration of statistical processes and IT systems, as well as the use of Open Data, Linked Open Data, and Open Source tools to enhance data accessibility and innovation. In addition, special attention was given to approaches for accessing Privately Held Data and practical methods for collecting and storing web data, such as Online Job Advertisements (OJA), to support the production of timely and relevant labour market statistics.
