PROJECT DESCRIPTION

As part of the European Statistical Training Programme – Phase IV (ESTP IV), extensive efforts were made to develop, organize, and deliver training courses that equip statisticians within the European Statistical System (ESS) with cutting-edge methodologies and tools.

The project aimed to strengthen capacities in modern statistical methods, tools, and technologies in line with the European Statistical System (ESS) standards. It provided participants with practical knowledge of seasonal adjustment techniques using JDemetra+, quality reporting methodologies, and state-of-the-art survey sampling approaches. The project introduced emerging topics such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), focusing on ethical development, practical applications, and unlocking new data sources, as well as Machine Learning (MSL) validation and reporting. Participants enhanced their skills in programming languages like Python, R, and Julia for data processing, visualization, and analysis, alongside training in tools such as QGIS and techniques for rapid estimations, low response management, and the use of Earth Observation (EO) data. The project also addressed key topics in data quality at both introductory and advanced levels, data standards (InfoStandards), and practical methods for moving from annual to monthly data production.
