PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The current government of Guatemala (2020-2024) has made improving access and quality of education one of its priorities. This is a response to an increasingly critical situation in the education sector, which manifests itself at the secondary level.

The objective of the module is: "To improve the framework conditions for raising the quality of secondary education in terms of the teaching of skills for the world of work and active citizenship". The project is being implemented throughout the country, with special attention to the administrative district of Quiché, Alta Verapaz and Chiquimula, which has a high proportion of indigenous population.

The Technical Cooperation project advises the Ministry of Education on the restructuring of secondary education, focusing on social integration and vocational preparation. Thanks to the reform of secondary education, young people, especially those from rural areas and of indigenous origin, will be better prepared for the world of work and their skills for active citizenship will be strengthened.

ICON INSTITUT is through this project sought to improve the vocational education and training system. By this, ICON-INSTITUT is contributing to reduce unemployment of young population in Guatemala.
