Adoption of German Master Craftsman Standards – Training Mechatronics – Upgrade Training
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
In response to the growing international recognition of the German TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) system, SHRDC expanded its training offerings by introducing the Malaysian Meister qualification, modeled after the German Meister Diploma.
A twinning training program was implemented by ICON-INSTITUT, which led to participants sitting for the Malaysian Meister examination. The examination produced three different qualification levels, with only level 3 graduates receiving the prestigious Malaysian Meister Certificate.
To offer participants who did not initially qualify for level 3 a chance to upgrade their qualifications, a follow-up training program was introduced. This revision course included exercises drawn from previous Meister exams and combined self-learning units with supervised training provided by previously certified Malaysian Meisters, with additional remote monitoring by German experts. The revision course culminated in a re-examination of the candidates, giving them another opportunity to attain the Malaysian Meister qualification.
