PROJECT DESCRIPTION
In 2005, a crucial collaboration between the European Union and Argentina launched the "Programme for Pedagogical Strengthening of Schools" (FOPIIE), part of the larger Integral Programme for Educational Equality (PIIE). FOPIIE’s mission was to improve education for children in vulnerable urban and suburban areas at the primary education levels (EGB 1 and 2), while also supporting teachers, administrators, and technical teams.
FOPIIE focused on reducing absenteeism, dropout rates, and educational delays by strengthening schools and improving management. Six seminars and numerous training sessions enhanced school leadership, while studies were conducted by ICON-INSTITUT to inform future improvements. The program also worked to integrate Information and Communication Technology (ICT) into classrooms, holding workshops and assisting technical teams in monitoring its use. To support this, FOPIIE distributed computers, cameras, printers, and multimedia equipment to schools. FOPIIE also built bridges between schools and their communities. Through grants to 13 socio-educational projects led by NGOs and universities, it fostered collaboration between schools and civil society, creating a more supportive educational environment.
In the end, FOPIIE significantly contributed to educational equality, empowering students and educators across Argentina.
