National Statistical Development Strategy and Annual Statistical Work Programme

Consultancy to Assist Member States to Develop the National Statistical Development Strategy and Annual Statistical Work Programme

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The project aimed to enhance the statistical framework across CARICOM, supporting the monitoring of the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME) by strengthening both national and regional data capabilities. It developed a statistical programming framework, leading to the CARICOM 2011-2013 Regional Statistical Work Programme (RSWP), which outlined strategies to improve statistics production.

ICON-INSTITUT created a three-year work plan to guide activities in line with the RSWP, while National Strategies for the Development of Statistics (NSDS) and country-specific plans were established to ensure alignment with regional goals. A roadmap and monitoring mechanisms were also developed to track progress and update work plans. The project assessed the readiness of member states to adopt the RSWP and provided recommendations for harmonizing regional statistics. It supported the implementation of the NSDS and RSWP at the national level, building a foundation for long-term statistical development in the region.
