PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The ICON-INSTITUT was commissioned by the GIZ to carry out a Central project evaluation of the Project "Support of economic cooperation in subregional initiatives (SCSI) in Asia", financed by BMZ. The objectives of the SCSI project were to support public stakeholders at national, sub-regional, and local levels, as well as private stakeholders from business and academia, in the context of sub-regional cooperation; Eehance the structural conditions for regional economic cooperation; improve the implementation capabilities of relevant stakeholders; foster the inclusion of the private sector in related processes and to strengthen and improve the quality of economic cooperation between Cambodia, Lao PDR, and Viet Nam (within the ACFTA framework), and Mongolia (within the Greater Tumen Initiative framework) with China. The SCSI project focused on trade facilitation, cross-border economic cooperation, and private sector engagement to promote regional integration, particularly benefiting poor border regions by increasing economic integration, trade, and investment. ICON-INSTITUTE implemented successfully the midterm evaluation of the technical cooperation module and assessed the project's success based on OECD-DAC criteria, using data and a predefined rating system.
