Manage Development Projects: Strengthen Government Capacity
Strengthening Government Capacity for Managing Development Projects
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
In December 2014, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) launched a technical assistance (TA) project to bolster the Kyrgyz Republic’s ability to manage development projects effectively. The project aimed to enhance the government's capacity to execute development interventions more efficiently, supporting ongoing public financial management reforms and improving governance in the public sector. The Ministry of Finance (MOF) played a key role as the executing agency, tasked with integrating the project’s outputs into the government's internal systems.
ICON-INSTITUT was contracted to Improve the Policy Guidelines and Procedures for Development Project Management (GDPM), to establish a Sustainable Training Programme for Project Management and to strengthen the capacity for Project Management and Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E). This TA project not only enhanced the Kyrgyz Republic’s capacity to manage its development projects but also laid the groundwork for better governance and more effective public sector reforms. By improving project management skills, creating sustainable training programs, and implementing robust M&E systems, the project contributed to the country’s long-term development goals.
