Protected Areas

Integrated Management of Protected Areas Phase II

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The main objective of the GIAP II project is to improve the living conditions and income situation of the population surrounding the selected protected areas, and at the same time to increase their acceptance of biodiversity conservation.

Activities include investments in rural economic, road and social infrastructure and increased agricultural productivity. Emphasis will also be placed on the creation of economic activities and the generation of additional income to encourage the population to fight poaching by giving them economic and social stability and thus avoid the endangerment of endemic species. To this end, the project also aims to sensitize local residents to a sustainable approach to the exploitation of natural resources.

The activities also include measures to support the partner on the management of the project in order to give him the means to continue the management of the sub-projects and other similar projects and thus follow the evolution of the activities in a more structured way in all the parks under his responsibility.
