Trade for Employment

(T4E)

Consultancy Services to assess the Trade related Services Market in Jordan and assess the Private Sector’s Needs for Demand Based Services to Boost Exports to Potential Markets (T4E) Trade for Employment

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The GIZ project “Trade for Employment” (T4E) project was part of the BMZ special initiative "Tackling the Root Causes of Displacement – Reintegrating Refugees," within the Regional Refugee and Resilience Plan (3RP) in response to the Syria crisis. Its goal was to help Jordanian companies address mid-term structural challenges in trade promotion and improve long-term conditions for trade and employment.

The project aimed to assess Jordan’s trade-oriented services market through a survey, identify demand-driven services, and design interventions to improve trade-related services that would boost exports. It also researched best practices for electronic platforms providing trade information and explored options for a trade services portal in Jordan.

ICON-INSTITUT was contracted to carry out a study to define the roles of public and private trade service providers, assessing their capacities, and identifying services in demand that could increase competitiveness. The project gathered baseline data on existing services and provided recommendations to enhance or develop new ones, promoting the export of selected products and to develop an e-trade platform.
