Sector Operational Planning (POS) as part of the Assistance to the National Strategic Export Program
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The National Strategic Export Program (PENX 2003-2013) sought to transform Peru into a competitive exporting nation by developing high-value goods and services for diversified markets. Its broader goal was to contribute to Peru’s economic growth and enhance its global image through stronger regional and international integration. The Sector Operational Planning (POS) played a crucial role in supporting PENX by focusing on four main objectives: diversifying Peru's export offerings, expanding its presence in priority markets, improving trade facilitation mechanisms, and fostering a robust export culture.
To achieve this, ICON-INSTITUT concentrated on six key sectors: jewelry, textiles, handicrafts, agriculture, fisheries, and wood products. Through targeted actions like technical assistance, training, and research, POS aimed to enhance the competitiveness of Peruvian businesses. These efforts were implemented by both public and private sectors across Lima and selected regions, driving the country's growth as an emerging exporter on the global stage.
