PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Social dimension of European integration has been greatly developed throughout the years. It is a key aspect of the Europe 2020 strategy, which aims to ensure 'inclusive growth' with high levels of employment and a reduction in the number of people living in poverty or at risk of social exclusion. The coordination of social security systems is needed to support the free movement of people within the territory of the EU.
The European Parliament has always shown a keen interest in the problems encountered by migrant workers, frontier workers, the self-employed and nationals of third countries working in other Member States and has adopted various resolutions with a view to improving their lot and has deplored the persistence of obstacles to full freedom of movement.

ICON-INSTITUT provides expertise on regulatory and policy issues in the field of social security and social protection including free movement of workers and pensioners; social inclusion and the reduction and prevention of poverty; social dialogue, information and consultation of workers, also in newly emerging forms of work; non-discrimination at the workplace and in the labour market, both traditional and virtual; demographic change.
