Statistical Co-operation: Andean Community – European Union

Statistical Co-operation between the Andean Community and the EU

PROJECT WAS RUNNING IN VARIOUS COUNTRIES

Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The project aimed to enhance regional integration in the Andean Community by harmonizing statistical systems across member countries. It focused on building capacity in managing and disseminating data through Institutional Support, providing training to strengthen national and regional statistical frameworks.

In International Trade and Transportation Statistics, ICON-INSTITUT developed a system to track intra-regional trade, improving data comparability. National Accounts and Macroeconomic Statistics were standardized, supporting fiscal policy alignment across the region. The project also improved data consistency in agriculture and manufacturing through Business and Regional Statistics. Additionally, the Poverty and Social Statistics component developed an Integrated Household Survey, offering insights into poverty and social conditions.

By harmonizing these statistical systems, the project laid the foundation for better policy coordination and deeper regional collaboration within the Andean Community.
