PROJECT DESCRIPTION

ICON-INSTITUT conducted a large training programme commissioned by the EUROSTAT. The project was designed to strengthen the capacities of National Statistical Institutes (NSIs) in the Eastern European, Caucasus, and Central Asia (EECCA) countries by organizing a series of six specialized training courses. The primary objective was to enhance the practical skills and theoretical knowledge of statisticians in these regions, ensuring that they could effectively apply what they learned to improve data production and dissemination in their daily work. The training courses were carefully tailored to meet the needs of up to 20 participants per session, with simultaneous interpretation from English into Russian, making the content accessible to all attendees. The sessions were held in various locations, including EU countries, Turkey, or within the ENP-East region, providing flexibility and accessibility for participants.

The six courses covered critical topics in the field of statistics:

- Statistical metadata (advanced course)

- Quality management and survey quality management (advanced course)

- National accounts in practice (modular advanced course)

- Sampling techniques

- Using new technology for collection of statistical data

- Big data – effective processing

Through these training sessions, participants not only improved their technical capabilities but also gained valuable insights into applying new tools and methodologies in their work. By building a solid foundation in these key areas of statistical production, the project contributed to enhancing the overall quality of data in the EECCA region, promoting better decision-making and policy development based on accurate and reliable statistics.
