PROJECT WAS RUNNING IN VARIOUS COUNTRIES
Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, India, Kenya, Tanzania, UgandaPROJECT DESCRIPTION
ICON-INSTITUTE was contracted by the GIZ to conduct a mid-term evaluation of the BMZ initiative "One World Without Hunger" (EineWelt ohne Hunger), focusing on assessing progress and developing a plan of action for future efforts aimed at enhancing the initiative’s impact.
The project aimed to support the strengthening and professionalization of rural organizations in BMZ partner countries, including Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Burkina Faso, Tanzania, and India. The key objective was to encourage rural, family-owned businesses to become more active in self-organization, ultimately leading to sustainable rural development. By improving their organizational structures, rural associations could more effectively represent their members' interests in political and social spheres. This, in turn, allowed them to provide direct benefits to peasant farmers—who make up the majority of their members—through better education, enhanced agricultural production, and improved market access, leading to increased income. The initiative placed a strong emphasis on addressing the needs of youth and women within these communities.
