PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Embedded in the Rwandan-German Climate and Development Partnership, the NDC project aims to enhance the institutional and financial framework conditions of relevant state and non-state actors in Rwanda for the coordination, implementation, and monitoring of the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC). The project supports the Ministry of Environment of Rwanda (MoE), the Rwanda Environment Management Authority (REMA) and other actors in improving coordination and enhancing financing of the NDC, improving structures for scientific advice on climate policy, and embedding the climate targets in policy, economy and society.

ICON provides demand-based policy and technical advice and supports capacity development through different thematic short-term expert (STE) pools. Technical assistance activities comprise inputs to the overall implementation of the project, mainly taking form of research and analyses, technical and process-related advice, capacity development measures, contributions to development of policy proposals, drafting of investment programs or strategies/actions towards improved coordination of NDC implementation (information, communication, monitoring, verification).
